Historical archaeology, Chinese diaspora, transnationalism, Asian American studies, Western U.S., south China

My research interest is in the archaeology of the late 19th and early 20th century Chinese diaspora. I am currently developing a research project on the transpacific linkages between Chinese American communities in southern California and the home villages of those community members in Taishan, Guangdong, China.

My previous fieldwork includes archaeology at Manzanar National Historic Site and field projects in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Massachusetts, Iceland, and China. I received a BA in Anthropology with a minor in Ethnic Studies from the University of California San Diego and a MA in Historical Archaeology from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
