Location & Travel Information
326 Galvez Street
Stanford, CA 94305
Stanford University Campus, situated in the San Francisco Bay Area, is conveniently located near three international airports: San Francisco International Airport (SFO), San Jose Mineta Airport (SJC) and Oakland International Airport (OAK). Fares to all three airports can vary widely even on the same airline. Participants should note that Stanford is roughly equidistant between San Francisco and San Jose airports. Oakland International is further away, accessible via BART and Caltrain connections.
We encourage all participants to reach the campus through public transit if possible. Easiest regional access to campus is through Caltrain (Palo Alto Station). A one-way trip from San Francisco takes approximately one hour and costs about $7.25; a one-way trip from San Jose takes approximately 40 minutes and costs about $5.25. Caltrain also connects with stations and shuttles serving the San Francisco and San Jose International Airports. Caltrain routes and schedules are available at: http://www.caltrain.com/
Once you arrive at the Palo Alto Caltrain station, you can reach campus through the free Marguerite Shuttle. Take the “Y-Line (Clockwise)” to reach the conference venue. The closest stop is Campus Drive @ Arrillaga Center for Sports and Recreation. The “Y” shuttle leaves from the Palo Alto station approximately every 20 mins. Route maps, time tables, and more information can be found here: https://transportation.stanford.edu/marguerite/y
Stanford campus is accessible from two freeways, Highway 101 (Embarcadero Road Exit) and Highway 280 (Sand Hill Road Exit). For more detailed driving instructions go to: https://visit.stanford.edu/plan/
Paid Parking is available near the conference venue on the intersections of Memorial Way and Galvez Street. However, there are only a limited number of spaces here. Approximately 5 mins walk from the Arrillaga Alumni Center there is parking at Visitor Center Lot (L-95 on the campus map), located on Galvez Street between Nelson Road & Campus Drive, near the Stanford Stadium. Park only in spaces designated “P” (“C” and “A” parking requires a special permit). Purchase a parking permit and display on your dashboard. The vending machine accepts credit cards, bills, or coins. You should allow at least three hours. Parking is free after 4 PM. More information on-campus parking can be found here: https://visit.stanford.edu/plan/parking.html
