Catherine is a Ph.D. student in Classics on the Classical Archaeology track. Her research interests include Roman archaeology on the northern frontiers, architecture, spatial analysis, military technology, and experimental archaeology. She has previously worked at the Mazi Archaeological Project (Attica, Greece), the Pompeii Quadriporticus Project, and at Binchester (northern England) with Stanford’s field school. She received her undergraduate degree from Brown University in 2014; her thesis examined the use of viewsheds in visibility studies of fortifications around Attica. After graduating, she worked as a lighting designer and theatrical electrician. When not researching or tinkering in the shop, Catherine enjoys riding and training horses.
