Undergraduate Supplemental Funding Program
The Stanford Archaeology Center Supplemental Funding Scholarships support undergraduate Archaeology Majors and Minors in their professional and research development. Applicants must have applied to alternate sources of funding before becoming eligible for a SAC Scholarship. An exception may be made for undergraduates who are applying for conference funds and who have never attended an academic conference in the past.
Types of Scholarships:
- SAC Supplemental Undergraduate Conference Fund
- SAC Supplemental Undergraduate Research
- Undergraduate Research Assistantship
Submit your completed proposal by the deadline and Email the Archaeology Student Services Officer. The Undergraduate committee evaluates applications and makes decisions 1-2 weeks after the deadline. Grants range from $500-$4000. Note: Undergraduate Research Assistantship has a separate application process.
By submitting an application, you authorize department staff to examine your academic transcripts and consult with appropriate faculty and staff regarding your project.

The SAC Supplemental Undergraduate Conference Fund Scholarship is meant to aid in the academic and professional development of undergraduate students by supporting their participation in conferences as an attendee and/or presenter happening domestically.Funds can be applied to Flights, hotels, per diem for food, conference registration. Must apply for alternative funding to be eligible for supplemental funding.

Undergraduate Research Assistantship
Every year a number of faculty host paid Undergraduate Research Assistantship opportunities. Details on the opportunities, deadlines and how to apply are posted by Summer. The Research Assistantship provides an opportunity for undergraduates to work closely with faculty members on different aspects of their research.
Stipends up to $1500
Student Eligibility
- Students must be current undergraduates in good standing at Stanford
- Students must be enrolled
- Students may not receive both academic units and a stipend for any single project activity
- Co-terms who have not conferred their undergraduate degree and who are still paying undergraduate (not graduate) tuition are eligible
- Students may not be serving a suspension
- Students may not be on a Leave of Absence (LOA)
