Matthew Previto

Matt received his BA in Anthropology with High Honors from SUNY Binghamton in 2011, and a MA in Anthropology from Columbia University in 2014. After working in CRM and completing a Post-Bacc in Classical Languages at Georgetown University, Matt obtained a further MA in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies from Brandeis University in 2019. Matt's current research is focused on the material culture of the towns that grew up around Roman frontier forts. He is particularly interested in how the populations of these communities actively selected and sued particular types of Roman material culture to assert themselves in the empire's social networks.
