My research studies the dynamics of social cohesion on the margins of social heirarchies. I am interested in the motivations and extent of agency that subordinate groups enjoy as they build and live in landscapes formally controlled by the elite.

I have participated in several seasons of excavation and survey in South Aisa. I earned a master's degree in Ancient Indian history from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, and a bachelor's degree in history from St. Stephen's college.
