Anne Duray

Anne received her BA in Classics from Grinnell College in 2010 and completed her MA in Classical Archaeology at The University of Arizona in 2012. Her MA thesis analyzed long-term production, consumption, and distribution patterns of stone vessels at a sampling of sites in Bronze Age Crete. She has conducted fieldwork in both Italy (Poggio Colla, Marzamemi) and Greece (Mitrou, Azoria, Malthi, Corinth, Stelida, and the Athenian Agora). During the 2015-2016 academic year she was a Regular Member at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Her research currently focuses on the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age in the Aegean, as well as the history of archaeology in Greece—in particular, the relationship(s) between archaeological practices and knowledge production, interpretation, and narrative creation.  Other interests include the role of topography in Aristophanic comedy and travel to Italy and Greece in the 18th-19th centuries.
