Anja Krieger

Anja is a graduate student in the Archaeology Track.  Having studied at the University of Freiburg and the Università degli Studi di Perugia, she recieved her M.A. from the University of Heidelberg in 2011 writing a thesis about the role of seafaring in Homer's Odyssey and Hesiod's Works and Days.  She explored the status, function and motivation of seafaring in these works and supplemented the evidence of the literary sources with an analysis of ship representations on Late Geometric vases.  She is particularly interested in seafaring and maritime trade and the interdisciplinary research on networks across the Mediterranean and on cultural exchange with a focus on Late Bronze and Iron Age Greece.  Her interests include Greek Epigraphy, Latin Elegy, Aegean Prehistory and Mediterrranean Archaeology.
