This talk shall focus on the definition and history of ruins from the neolithic period to the Enlightenment through traces of the past, poetry and monuments.

Alain Schnapp is Professor Emeritus of classical archaeology at the Université Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne). His main interests are Greek iconography and cultural history of Antiquity. He has been visiting scholar or visiting professor in various universities and research institutes, including Princeton University, Stanford University, Getty Research Institute, Churchill College (Cambridge), Universität Heidelberg, Universität Basel, Wissenschaftskolleg Berlin, Morphomata Köln, Istituto Orientale  Napoli, Università di Perugia, Collegium Budapest, and the University of Aarhus.

The talk will begin at 12:30 pm, with a light lunch starting at 12:15 pm. This event is free and open to the public. RSVPs are not required.
